ASRS-Automated Storage and Retreival
An Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS) is a combination of equipment and controls that handle, store and retrieve materials as needed with precision, accuracy and speed. Systems vary from relatively simple, manually controlled order-picking machines to extremely large, fully automated retrieval systems totally integrated into a manufacturing or distribution operation.
ASRS includes Horizontal Carousels, Vertical Carousels, Vertical Lift Modules, and Fixed Aisle Storage and Retrieval Cranes, the latter utilizing load carriers and extractors needed to insert, extract and deliver loads to designated end-of-aisle locations being served.
ASRS provides high density storage of goods and are proven technologies capable of effectively and reliably handling and buffering raw materials, work-in-process inventories and finished goods of all kinds from cartons, to pallets or oversized goods such as automobiles.
